DMCA / Copyright
How to report content on this site that you believe infringes your copyright, and how we respond.
Making a complaint
Email [email protected] with the subject “Copyright complaint”, including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed
- The URL on this site where the material appears, specific enough for us to find it
- Your name, address and email
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law
- A statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them
- Your signature, physical or electronic
What we do
We aim to acknowledge within 48 hours. Where a complaint is clearly well-founded we remove or replace the material promptly and notify whoever supplied it. Where it is unclear we may ask for more information before acting.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to the same address with the material identified, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed in error, and your consent to jurisdiction. We may restore the material unless the original complainant pursues the matter.
Repeat infringement
We terminate contributor relationships where there is a pattern of infringement.
Our own content
Short excerpts of our work with attribution and a link are welcome, and myth-checks may be shared freely for public-interest correction provided the verdict is not altered. Full republication requires permission — see our terms. If you find our content republished elsewhere without attribution, we would be glad to know.
